My First Feature Film

Jessalyn and I on the set of Miracle On The Precipice

Last Spring, I got the incredible opportunity to work as an APOC, Assistant Production Office Coordinator, and Assistant to the producers for the feature film Miracle On The Precipice. I got this great opportunity through our film program at Liberty University and through a partnership with FusionFlix Entertainment, a production company based out of Texas.

Miracle on the Precipice is a screenplay written and directed by Nathan Todd Sims. The story is inspired by Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan, which was originally published in 1678. The film follows a struggling family in a mountainous wilderness as they attempt to reconnect and rebuild their once joyful family. Tragedy strikes, and the family begins a fight for survival that challenges everything they know about themselves and their beliefs.

I spent about 35 days working on this project between the pre-production, which lasted for about 2 weeks, and the principal photography for this production, which lasted 20 days. I worked in the role of APOC mostly during the film's pre-production phase. Still, once we transitioned to production, I moved into the position of assistant to the producer, which turned from helping one director to two. While working on the film, I also got the chance to act as an assistant for Kevin Sorbo during his time on set.

An unexpected role that I played on set was as a background actor. Due to the smaller scale of the set, quite a few people out of the crew got to participate as background for a few scenes in the film. It was an interesting and nerve-racking experience being on the other side of the camera.
